Navarrete

I’m afraid today’s post is going to be a bit short and sweet. We had accumulated a big pile of laundry, and the van badly needed a spring clean inside, so we’ve booked ourselves into a camp site in Navarrete, not far from Logroño in the Rioja region, and we’ll be here for a couple of days.

On our way over I left the motorway a bit too soon, and we ended up in a town called Viana, which is on the Camino de Santiago. It looked like a lovely little town, so we parked up and went for a wander, stopping for a coffee. An americano served with a mini-muffin cost just €1, and decent coffee it was too. They’d probably charge you £1 just for the mini-muffin at Costa back at home!

Back in the van, we drove through Logroño and onto Navarrete. After a wander through the town, and a bite to eat for lunch, we checked ourselves into the site, and we’ve spent the afternoon cleaning the inside of the van and running backwards and forwards to the laundrette with three big loads of washing.

Carol’s now cooking us a curry, and tonight will be spent doing some route planning, sorting out some boring admin stuff on the laptop and reading. Tomorrow, we’ll be catching a bus into Logroño and spending the day there, so we’ll hopefully have a more interesting update with some photos for you then.

  1. I am enjoying reading your blog. We are retiring next year and planning to invest in a camper. Hope to start a journey like yours in a year or so.

    • Thanks for the feedback Jim, and glad to hear that you’re enjoying the blog. I bet you can’t wait to get on the road. I’m currently working on a set of ‘Van Life’ pages which you might find useful, so stay tuned!
