First stop this morning was the gorge at Vintgar, just a few kilometres from Lake Bled, down some steep and narrow winding lanes. We parked up, paid the €5 admission and went along the path to the gorge.
The gorge is 1.6 km long, and carves its way through the rocks of the Hom and Boršt hills with boardwalks along the way, criss-crossing the crystal-clear river Radovna with its waterfalls, pools and rapids. It really was beautiful.
After a coffee back at the van, we drove to Kranj, which is Slovenia’s third city. The aire is in a car park where the exit barrier seems to be permanently raised. The electricity point also had some credit left on it, so we could be on for a free night’s parking. The WiFi’s also free – what’s not to like! We went for a walk into town and it’s quite a small place, but the old town is very nice.
We haven’t yet decided where we’ll be going tomorrow, but we could well be visiting the capital, Ljubljana.
