Zambujeira do Mar

For the past couple of days we’ve been on a campsite in Zambujeira do Mar, which is a 10 minute walk from the village, with its restaurants and the beach.

We’ve walked to the beach and back a couple of times each day. It was warm and sunny when we first arrived, but since then it’s become cooler, not quite the weather for sitting on the beach and going for a paddle. Today we went for a walk further round the coast, where there were some lovely views.

We’ve also spent time relaxing on the site, sat outside the van reading.

The first evening here, we went to a lovely restaurant and had one of the specials on the menu, a shellfish broth with rice which was delicious and very filling.

Yesterday was Carol’s birthday, and the food was so good that we went back to the same restaurant, and had another lovely dinner there.

We ordered the sardine pâté for starters, and this is what was served!

Tomorrow we’ll be moving on, either further up the coast to Porto Covo, or inland towards Évora. We’ll make our minds up in the morning.

  1. Love the food presentation! So typical of Portugal – we struggled there to find veggie meals – had to enjoy the cheap wine, bread and olives! But not complaining they do produce good and always very generous with the delicious olives. Pleased you had a lovely birthday Carol. The weather in the U.K. is chilly at the moment. Enjoying the blog. x

    • Yep we’re enjoying Portugal. We’ll be seeing lots of Roman stuff this week before heading back into Spain, then we’ll follow the Douro river back into Portugal all the way to Porto, where of course we’ll be sampling the local beverage!
