Rovaniemi

A two and a half hour drive brought us here to Rovaniemi, and we’re parked for the night in Santa Claus Village, right on the Arctic Circle.

Roy Wood and Wizzard sang “I wish it could be Christmas everyday”. Well they need to move up here, because here it is Christmas every day. Christmas songs are playing over the tannoy and in the tat shops (fortunately they haven’t played “Do they know it’s Christmas” yet), there are people walking around wearing silly hats, and you can have a a roast reindeer Christmas lunch should the fancy take you.

Tomorrow we have a long driving day up to Saariselkä, and the day after we will most likely cross into Norway.

Ho ho ho!

Mike

  1. Having a school get-together tomorrow in Liverpool St (Lord Aberconway). Mel and Gaynor are supposed to be turning up. Your presence will be missed. I’ll send pic

    • Hi Stu, yes it’s a shame I can’t be there. Have a great time, and I look forward to seeing some pics!
